I have drawn and made things for as long as I can remember. I studied with some of
Charleston's finest artists, but for the most part am self-taught. I joined the Charleston Artists
Guild several years ago, and am an exhibiting member. I began selling my work at Market
Hall in 2004, and due to that fortunate venue, my originals and other work have quietly spread
all over the world. From my many scenes of this beloved home city, I sold prints, Christmas
ornaments, magnets, mobiles--always labor intensive, but a joy to make.
In 2008, I was side-swiped by a truck while unloading my car one morning, and the event,
sorry to say, was one that affected my ability to get myself back to that routine.
I have many paintings from which I sold prints, Christmas ornaments, and my wooden
cutout Mini Mansions, and gradually am going to be offering these originals for sale. I also
have new work which I will be listing more frequently than in the past. I will be presenting
more new work from Southern California, beginning with Coronado Island, that lovely jewel
across the bay from San Diego--another place dear to the heart of my childhood.
I have exhibited in various galleries here in Charleston: 66 State Street Gallery, 53 Cannon,
the Columbus Street Gallery, The Calhoun Mansion Gallery, some of which are no longer in
existence. My work has also hung in shows held by the Charleston Artists Guild at various
venues.
The transition from representing my own work at Market Hall is finally taking a direction,
towards more intensive painting for the sake of the painting itself, for the joy of brushing the
colors around a surface.
I thank anyone who has liked my work and has taken the time to read this, and if you
desire to add something of mine to your collection, I thank you for that as well. I hope to
continue making pictures that make you see and feel a goodness that is all around us.
